Residency and Guest Information
Our residential Zen training community lives on Normandie Mountain, occupying two apartment buildings. Resident training offers committed Zen students (with a lot of experience or a little) the opportunity to deepen their practice by living with a resident teacher and a community of practitioners. Residents combine their Zen training with family and careers, take on a vital role in the stewardship of the Center, and explore together the dynamic life of Sangha. Before their application process begins, prospective residents are asked to complete our two introductory Zen meditation classes, ZP I and ZP II, to participate in zazen and the Center's programs, and to meet with the resident teacher. The Buddha Hand Council oversees the admission process. Interested parties can contact the Council for information and requirements. In addition to long-term resident training, we also offer short term residential practice opportunities when approved by the abbot. Please contact our Guest Steward for more information.
